People define faith in many ways.  A simple, non-religious substitute is “trust.”  To have faith is to trust God.  Trust Him for what?  Most people are not aware of the many promises God has made, so they have no basis for their trust.  But how are those promises found?  The word, promise, is used only a few times.  We find the promises by reading the New Testament, looking for statements of fact from God that describe something we would not ordinarily expect to happen.  The following is a list of promises found in 2 Corinthians as practice.

2 Corinthians 1:4 – 5            God comforts us that we may comfort others

2 Corinthians 1:9                 Trust in God who raises the dead

2 Corinthians 1:10               Who will deliver us

2 Corinthians 1:21               We are established and anointed

2 Corinthians 1:22               We are sealed and guaranteed by the Spirit in us

2 Corinthians 1:24               For by faith ye stand

2 Corinthians 3:5 – 6            God makes us sufficient

2 Corinthians 2:14 – 16        The fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved

2 Corinthians 3:7 – 11          That which remains is much more glorious

2 Corinthians 3:14 – 16        The veil is removed in Christ

2 Corinthians 3:17               Liberty

2 Corinthians 3:18               We are being transformed into the same image

2 Corinthians 4:3 – 4            The gospel is veiled to the perishing

2 Corinthians 4:6                 Has shone in our hearts the knowledge of the glory of God

2 Corinthians 4:7                 The excellence is by the power of God

2 Corinthians 4:14               He will raise us also

2 Corinthians 4:16               The inner man is renewed day by day

2 Corinthians 5:1 – 2            We have a house with God

2 Corinthians 5:5                 He gave us the Spirit as a pledge

2 Corinthians 5:10               We shall all appear before the Judgment seat of Christ

2 Corinthians 5:17               If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation

2 Corinthians 5:18 – 21        His is reconciling the world to Himself

2 Corinthians 6:2                 Now is the day of salvation

2 Corinthians 6:16 – 18        I will dwell in them (see 7:1)

2 Corinthians 7:6                 God who comforts the downcast

2 Corinthians 7:10               Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation

2 Corinthians 8:9                 That you through His poverty might become rich

2 Corinthians 8:12               For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted

2 Corinthians 8:13 – 15        He who gather much had none too much; he who gathered little had no lack

2 Corinthians 9:6                 You will reap what you sow

2 Corinthians 9:6                 He who sows sparingly shall reap sparingly

2 Corinthians 9:7                 God loves a cheerful giver

2 Corinthians 9:8                 You will have all sufficiency for every good deed
