Life

  • Many contexts specify the type of life intended: eternal life, manner of life, life as opposed to death.
  • Two major Greek words are used.  One is always translated life.  The other is usually translated spirit.

  • Matthew 7:14  Narrow is the way that leads to life
  • Matthew 18:8 – 9 (Mark 9:43 – 45)  If it better to enter into life lame or maimed rather than, having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire.

  • Luke 12:15  One’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.

  • Acts 11:18  God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance unto life
  • Acts 17:25  He gives to all life, breath, and all things
  • Romans 5:10 We shall be saved by His life
  • Romans 5:17 – 18 …Will reign in life by the One, Jesus Christ…resulting in justification of life.
  • Romans 6:4  We also should walk in newness of life
  • Romans 7:10  The commandment which was to bring life, I find to bring death.
  • Romans 8:2  The law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus made us free from the law of sin and death
  • Romans 8:6  To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace
