How Can a Loving God Condemn the Majority?
- God’s objective is to build a big family that will last. God has determined that two characteristics are necessary in each family member for this eternal family to work and not fall apart as did the angels before creation and humans after creation: faith and love, also stated as mutual trust and selfless concern. If we will choose to trust God (specifically, act on His promises as recorded in the New Testament), He will give us the selflessness we need (Romans 5:5).
- Humans have free will. People can choose to trust God based on the overwhelming evidence, or not. If God caused some to have faith and not others, the concept of mutual trust would fall apart. Trust assumes free will. If humans (or some humans) are caused to trust God, they are no longer human but organic robots.
- The fact that only a small percentage of humans have decided to trust God is not God’s fault. God made people capable of success in His system (Ecclesiastes 7:29). Historically, only a small percentage have made the right choice.
